Orders have a way of rearranging everything. One day you are settled into a rhythm, and the next you are reading a set of dates that will decide where your family lives, where your children start school, and who you will lean on for the next season of life. If your assignment has brought you to Omaha, welcome. I am so glad you are here.
My name is Virginia, and I am a luxury newborn, family, and maternity photographer serving Omaha and the surrounding area. I have been photographing families here since 2017. I was a military wife for 21 years, so I know firsthand what it is like to move your family to a new place and start over. I am also a mother of six daughters, which means I understand how to hold a household together while everything around it is in motion.
If your assignment has brought you to Omaha with a demanding clinical schedule and a growing family, I know you already have plenty on your list. My goal is to make photography one thing you do not have to manage yourself.
Why Is It Worth Planning Your Photography Around Your Military Move?
A tour at a new duty station has a beginning and an end that you cannot always control. That is exactly why the time you have in Omaha deserves to be documented with care.
Your children will not be this age again by the time the next set of orders arrives. The baby you are expecting will arrive on their own schedule, and the toddler who just learned to run will be a different little person at the next base. These photographs become part of your family’s story, wherever your next set of orders takes you.
A finished piece of artwork can also be a quiet anchor. Wherever you land next, a framed portrait or handmade album can become a reminder of the family and season you were building in Omaha. That is the heart of what I do. Your images are never meant to live on a hard drive. They are meant to hang on your walls and be passed down.
When Should You Book Newborn or Family Photography After Receiving Orders?
My recommendation is to reach out as soon as you know, because my schedule fills quickly and I take only a limited number of clients each month.
Here is how that looks in practice:
- Expecting a baby during your assignment? Reach out as soon as you know you are expecting. Getting on my calendar early means we can plan around your delivery and your family’s schedule from the very beginning.
- Arriving in Omaha with a growing family? Reach out once you know your arrival window, even before you are fully settled. A family session soon after you arrive can mark the start of this chapter.
- Already here and thinking about it? Do not wait for a perfect moment. Reaching out sooner gives us the best chance at a date that works.
If you are unsure what makes sense, that is exactly what our first conversation is for.
What Is the Process for a Family With an Unpredictable Schedule?
Every family begins with a complimentary consultation call. This is not a sales conversation. It is a chance for me to learn about your family, your story, and what this season has looked like for you. We talk through timing, wardrobe, and the details of your finished artwork, and we plan around your move and your work schedule so the experience feels simple and thoughtfully handled.
I know that call schedules, long shifts, and shifting duty hours are part of your reality. During our consultation, we talk openly about your calendar so we can find timing that genuinely works for your family rather than forcing you into a rigid appointment.
You can see how the experience unfolds from the first call to the final piece on your wall on my experience page.
What Does a Newborn Session Look Like for a Busy Family?
Every session has a general flow that keeps things organized, but each one is unique because I adapt to your children. Whether it is a big brother or sister or the baby, everything flows from the cues I am constantly reading and responding to.
Most often we begin with family images, because babies tend to calm most easily when mom is holding and gently rocking them. That creates an effortless flow from beginning to end, and it moves naturally into the sweet newborn portraits you have in mind.
The length of a session depends on what your baby and any siblings need that day. I never rush. If your baby needs a feeding or a longer soothing break, we take it, and I am there for as long as it takes to create a full and beautiful gallery.
If you are expecting, I would love for you to explore my newborn photography and maternity photography pages to see how I approach this season.
What Does a Family Session Look Like When Your Schedule Is Unpredictable?
Family sessions are never rushed or rigidly timed. I stay for as long as it takes to create a full and beautiful gallery. Children set the pace, and I have learned countless playful ways to help little ones relax and enjoy themselves.
Here is what I take care of so you do not have to:
- A client closet filled with high end wardrobe pieces for moms, dads, and children, curated before your session based on your preferences, skin tones, hair color, and family palette
- Curated recommendations for hair and makeup if you would like a little extra help getting ready
- A design appointment in person after your session, where you see your images next to studio samples and choose your heirloom artwork with my guidance
You simply show up. You can learn more on my family photography page.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should Air Force families at Offutt book newborn or family photography?
As soon as you know. If you are expecting, reach out as soon as you know you are expecting. If you are arriving or already here, reach out as soon as you know your timeline. My schedule fills quickly and I take a limited number of clients each month, so early booking gives your family the best chance at a date that works.
Can we schedule a session shortly after arriving in Omaha?
Yes. Many families choose a session soon after they arrive to mark the beginning of their time here, while others prefer to wait until they feel settled. We talk through what makes the most sense during your complimentary consultation call.
How do you work around call schedules and unpredictable duty hours?
By talking openly about your schedule during our consultation, so we can find timing that genuinely works for your family. I understand what it means to plan life around demanding hours and changing orders, and I would rather plan with you than ask you to fit a rigid appointment.
How does a newborn session begin?
Most sessions begin with family images, because babies often calm most easily while mom is holding and rocking them. From there, the session flows naturally into individual newborn portraits, always adapting to the cues from your baby and any siblings.
How long does a session take?
It depends on the cues I am picking up from your baby or children. I never rush, and I stay for as long as it takes to create a full and beautiful gallery. If a little one needs extra time to warm up, we take it.
Do we need to plan outfits before a session?
No. My client closet is available to every family I photograph and includes high end wardrobe pieces for moms, dads, and children. I curate selections based on your preferences, skin tone, hair color, and family palette, and bring them directly to your session.
What do we receive after the session?
After your session, we meet in person for a design appointment where you view your gallery beside studio samples and choose your heirloom artwork. Albums, framed artwork, archival prints, and digital collections are all offered a la carte, and heirloom pieces are custom made by hand.
Which areas do you serve?
My studio is in the center of Omaha, and I welcome families from Bellevue, Papillion, La Vista, Gretna, Elkhorn, Omaha, Lincoln, and surrounding Nebraska communities.
