Beyond Portraits: My Journey as an Omaha Commercial Photographer
My work in Omaha commercial photography keeps my days beautifully fresh + exciting. While I absolutely love capturing authentic portraits of my clients, some of my most rewarding work happens when I shift gears to photograph products and the passionate business owners behind them. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about helping local (and worldwide!) entrepreneurs showcase what they’ve built, and my recent project with Little Landings reminded me why I love this aspect of commercial photography so much.
Stretching Creative Boundaries with Omaha Commercial Photography
When Little Landings, a playmat company creating gorgeous, functional pieces for families, reached out for product photography, I knew this would be an opportunity to push my creative limits. Product photography in Omaha requires more than just technical skill. It demands vision, storytelling ability, and the flexibility to adapt to each brand’s unique aesthetic and goals.
For this shoot, I wanted to go beyond traditional product photography. Rather than shooting against plain backgrounds, I envisioned these beautiful playmats in real homes where families actually live and play. This approach to commercial photography creates authentic, lifestyle-oriented images that help potential customers envision products in their own spaces.
Creating the Perfect Environment
One of the most exciting aspects of Omaha commercial photography is having access to incredible resources. For the Little Landings shoot, I rented stunning homes through the Home Studio List, which connects photographers with unique residential locations perfect for lifestyle shoots. These weren’t sterile studio spaces, they were real homes with natural light, beautiful architecture, and the warm, lived-in feel that makes product photography come alive.
Working with models added another layer of authenticity to the images. Seeing children naturally interact with the playmats, watching families gather around these products, and capturing those genuine moments of play and connection, that’s what transforms good commercial photography into great storytelling. It’s this narrative approach that helps Omaha businesses stand out in competitive markets.
